Happy Women's Day! Every year we are fortunate to celebrate this amazing day and remind ourselves of the women who have fought against great systemic oppressions to give us many of the freedoms and equalities we have today. For such, this year, Amnesty Society in the city will be hosting a fun Women's Day event where students will be able to decorate cupcakes and cookies (and eat them of course!) and socialize with other like-minded students! However, we cannot forget that there are still women in the world who are facing horrible threats to their human rights including forced child marriages, being denied education, and genital mutilation. For such, we will also be using this day as an effort to raise awareness and education for all women and girls around the world who are facing oppression today. We would be very proud to host you all and invite you to this meaningful event, to celebrate and remember together!
